How We Got Here
It all started with nursery rhymes, screams, and knotted corsets.
Picture this: two strangers, bound together as conjoined twins in a twisted carnival scene. What began as a single night of scare acting (known in the industry as "haunting") became the foundation of an unbreakable sisterhood. Neither could have imagined that a few short nights tied together would forge a bond that would last a lifetime, and eventually lead to building a business for the industry they love.
Where it all began - Kelly and Beccah's first season together
Season after season, they returned to the haunt, perfecting their craft and strengthening their bond. Each year they ventured to Transworld Halloween & Attractions Show and watched the industry grow — its creativity, its community, its dedication. And they started to notice the same problems year after year: content flagged on mainstream platforms, HR tools that didn't fit, no dedicated space online that understood what this world actually is.
During some late night talks, they realized they could combine Kelly's expertise in HR consulting and software engineering with Beccah's photographer's eye and genuine love for each haunter in the industry.
Together they founded Dreadful Damsels and built the Haunted Platform — fully bootstrapped, built from the inside out, by haunters for haunters.

Kelly Hookham
Founder & Lead Developer
Kelly holds a Strategic Certification in Human Resources and has spent years consulting for seasonal businesses. She knows what keeps a seasonal workforce engaged and committed to returning — because she's lived it. Every compliance feature, every staffing tool, every design decision in this platform comes from that experience. When she's not building, you'll find her with dogs, at a haunt, or deep in industry compliance research.
Beccah Roemer
Co-Founder & Community Manager
Beccah is a photographer, actor trainer, and the reason a lot of haunters came back for a second season. Her genuine love for the industry and the people in it is what makes this community feel like one. She has trained and welcomed more new haunters than she can count — and most of them will tell you she's the reason they stayed.
